What is Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)?

  • ABA is a treatment approach that aims to improve the quality of the lives of individuals in a meaningful way by teaching skills. The goal of ABA is to improve socially significant, meaningful behaviour, decrease interfering behaviour that is harmful or has a negative impact on learning and the person’s day-to-day life, and make sure these skills remain with an individual over time, with different people, and in different environments

  • It uses the science of human behaviour that helps us to understand how behaviour works, how the environment influences behaviour, and how learning takes place.

  • ABA services are supported by evidence-based research. This means ABA strategies have met criteria, been tested, and proven that they are useful, high quality, and effective.
